Shri Mataji Nirmala Devi (21 March 1923 – 23 February 2011) is the founder of
Sahaja Yoga, a spiritual movement that grants seekers their
self-realization through the awakening of the Kundalini.
Born in Chhindwara, India, She is revered by Sahaja Yogis as the divine incarnation
of the Adi Shakti.
In May 1970, Shri Mataji opened the path of Sahaja Yoga to the world and thereafter
devoted Her life to the spiritual ascent of humanity. Through public programs, pujas,
seminars and personal guidance, She taught how the subtle system works and how
thoughtless awareness can be achieved in everyday life.
Her message is universal: the essence of all genuine religions is one, and it is
realized within us when the Spirit is awakened. Sahaja Yoga, as She founded it, is
a practical, living experience available to all, beyond rituals
and dogmas, offered completely free of charge.
“You cannot know the meaning of your life until you are connected to the Power
that created you.”
